Named after a sunken village on the banks of the Euphrates lost beneath the waters of the Birecik dam in 2000 Halfeti is a fragrance steeped in loss, beauty, and mystery. It has become one of the most collectible releases in modern British perfumery. No. 717 is our opulent, independently crafted interpretation designed for those who appreciate genuine depth and theatre in a scent.
Penhaligon's built Halfeti around the rare black rose of the Halfeti region: a flower that blooms deep crimson and, under certain conditions, appears almost completely black. The fragrance captures that contradiction something simultaneously dark and delicate, ancient and alive.
The opening of No. 717 is bright and arresting: pink pepper, bergamot, and rhubarb announce something extraordinary is coming. The heart is where the composition truly unfolds oud, rose, and jasmine woven together in a rich, romantic accord that feels simultaneously ancient and modern, structured and sensual. The base of leather, amber, and sandalwood is deep, long-lasting, and utterly commanding. Longevity is exceptional at 7–9 hours with a sillage that fills a room.
